Login System Upgrade Again!

Hi there,

As some of you know a little while ago we upgraded the login system on the BOAMARINAWIFI network. We did this as the original system was unreliable and not under our control. The system we are currently using is supplied to us by a company called Sputnik. This system is more reliable however it is still not under our control. If the company stopped trading next week it would have an impact on the network. So to resolve this problem we have developed a new login system which will be reliable and also totally under our control.

We are currently testing the new system on another community wireless network at Bratton near Westbury and if all goes well we will deploy the same system at the marina. This likely to happen within the next month.

When we are ready we will post up a notice and provide you with a weeks notice, it is likely that the network will be offline for a day or two while this upgrade is completed.

New Login System

Hi there,


Most of you should have noticed that we are now using the new login system for the BOAMARINAWIFI. When you login you should have also noticed that a small window that pops up with a "Logout Button", if you can please do not close this windows as you will need it to logout. If you do you may find that you will need to login again after 10 minutes.

Logins & Passwords

Hi,

In a previous post I have requested users to email me the current Login and the new password you would like to use on the new system. Only one person has done this so far. Due to the access problems over the weekend I will extend this deadline to Friday 8th.

If I do not receive the required details from you by Friday 8th then you may not have access to the wireless network from Sunday 10th June.

Access Problems

Hi there,

Over the last 24 hours users have be experiencing problems logging onto the wireless network. We are not sure what is exactly causing the problem however we have managed to find a way around it at around 11:45pm last night. If any user is still having problems can you please contact us ASAP.

We have also added this blog site into the walled garden so users can now navigate to this website and find out whats going on without logging onto the wireless network. The URL you need to book mark is as follows:

New Login System

Hi there,

We are now getting close to migrating over to a new login system for the Wireless Hotspot at the Bradford On Avon Marina. However I need to setup your logins and passwords for the new system before we make it live. Please can you all email me your current user name and the password you would like to use with your login. Please can you do this by next Monday 4th June.

New login process coming soon !

I just wanted to inform that we will be introducing the new login process fairly soon. This will require you to contact me to register a new password for your existing user name.

During the login process a little window will pop up giving you the amount of time you have been on line and a logout button. this small window should be kept open or minimised at all times during the session. Some user may have a few problems with this window as some pop up blockers could see this as a pop up and will stop it being displayed. You will be required to configure your pop up blocker to allow the window to be displayed.

I will post up the dates of this change in the next few days.

Wireless Network Upgrades

In a few weeks we are going to upgrade the speed of the ADSL (Broadband) connection that provides the Internet connection for the BOAMARINA WIFI network.

This change should be transparent however in some cases we might need to reboot the hardware located on site. If this is the case then we will try and do this work as quickly as possible to minimise the impact to our members.

Some time in the near future we will also be changing the way you log onto the network which will require each of you to contact me to confirm your passwords. We will let you know at least 7 days before we plan to complete this change.
